The Vipassana meditation centre in Sasbachwalden is known as Dhamma Sampatti, meaning Magnificence of Dhamma.
Dhamma Sampatti, which means ‘Magnificence of the Dhamma,’ is located at an altitude of 700 meters between Karlsruhe and Freiburg, offering a great view over the Rhine Valley. The former hotel was acquired on November 5, 2024, and regular course began in September 2025. 1-, 3- and 10-day courses are offered. In total, the center provides up to 1,500 meditators each year with the opportunity to deepen or newly learn Vipassana meditation. Each course accommodates up to 90 meditators and around 20–30 servers.
The 5.3-hectare site, with its tranquility and integration into nature, offers excellent conditions. The walking paths, set within the forest, provide an opportunity to walk during breaks. The center is accessible by public transport from Achern train station via a bus connection that runs every hour.
Accommodation is provided in simple yet comfortable single and double rooms. Please note that the accommodations are mostly accessible only via stairs, and the outdoor walking paths are uneven and in some places sloped through the forest. Good sturdy shoes are recommended.
The nutritious meals are vegetarian and from an organic wholesaler.
